I’m a Brooklyn-based writer specializing in design, media, and visual culture. I also teach and lecture about design.
Teaching has been an important part of my professional practice for more than ten years. I teach graduates and undergraduates, write curriculums, and develop new programs for the School of Visual Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York University, and the City College of New York. In a 20-year career as an art director I created concepts and page layouts for everything from Harper's Magazine to iPad apps for O, the Oprah Magazine, with stops at Dr. Oz the Good Life, Condé Nast Portfolio, the New York Times T Magazine, and Martha Stewart in between.
I hold a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the School of Visual Art’s Design Criticism (D-Crit) program.

I’m always curious. Reading is like breathing. I have a dark sense of humor but I walk on the sunny side of the street. I never met a movie I didn’t see through to the end. I like to make these. GPS is my best friend. Though I definitely know better, I will always click Update before I read the documentation. Morning self is saddened by evening self, who stays up way too late.
