US Embassies of the Cold War: The Architecture of Democracy, Diplomacy, and Defense
Following the Second World War, the United States built foreign embassies in over 25 countries worldwide, hiring leading modern architects to design embassies that expressed the American ideals of a progressive, democratic society.
The book design takes a Modernist approach, making use of ample white space and featuring an assertive extended display typeface to parallel the bold American use of architecture to spread its political agenda around the globe.
